Product Overview

The Collimator Fuse comes as a component in the collimator assembly. Radiographic systems are used to for imaging method diagnosis using X-rays. The systems work on the principle where high velocity electrons are interacted with patient’s body and their kinetic energy is converted into electromagnetic radiation (X-rays). A detector that is in line with the source of rays, detects them and measures their properties. A device called a collimator is provided to narrow the rays so that a parallel beam of rays is created, which are then aligned in a specific direction. In other words, it filters the rays. A fuse is provided to provide surge protection for the collimator in case of overcurrent. The thin filament in the fuse heats up and melts or burns in the event of excess current. The fuse stops the power supply by breaking the circuit thus preventing a permanent damage to collimator. It is highly essential since any damage to the collimator during operation also will cause damage to the radiography system thus compromising the patient's safety.
