Product Overview

The Exhalation Valve Assembly contains a diaphragm, a seal, an exhalation valve housing, expiratory flow sensor, an O-ring, a plunger, a spring and a water trap. It comes under the respiratory module. It vents the respiratory gases from the patient to the atmosphere at the expiration phase. The valve opens after an inspiration is completed and closes before the next inspiration begins. It minimizes the leakage of aerosols (air contaminants) into the ventilator during inhalation since contaminated air harms the patient. The expiratory flow sensor measures the exhaled gas flow rate of patient. The assembly can be removed by pushing down on the latch and then pulling the exhalation valve assembly away from the ventilator. The condensed contaminants are collected in the water trap and can be emptied while disassembling the valve assembly.
